I swatched all twelve original shades of the Butter Gloss line back in September of 2013 and have picked up eight of the newer releases, so I figured it was time for an updated Butter Gloss swatch post! The only shades I do not own are Ginger Snap and Red Velvet, since they appear to be a bit too dark for my skin tone, but who knows, maybe I will pick them up sometime to finish off my collection. I have reviewed most of the shades separately, so if you are interested in a more in depth review or lip swatches on some of the Butter Glosses, check the "Product Finder" under the Makeup tab or click HERE! Price: $5 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 8 mL / 0.27 fl oz The Nyx Butter Gloss in Praline is a dark rosy tan with a cream finish. The Butter Glosses come in a plastic tube that's color corresponds to the gloss's color. They have a typical doe foot applicator and an artificially sweet scent, although it dosen't really bother me. The formula is consistent with the other 19 Butter Glosses I have purchased; it has a medium thickness that provides moisture to the lips and is not sticky at all. I have never really been a fan of gloss since I dislike the way they feel on my lips, but the Butter Glosses are a definite exception. Praline is a color that would work on all kinds of skin tones. It's not too dark for people with light skin (like me) and it's not too light for people with a darker complexion either. XOX ♥
Price: $5.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.27 fl oz / 8 mL The Nyx Butter Gloss in Madeleine is a warm tan gloss with no shimmer or glitter. Madeleine has the same great formula as the rest of the Butter Glosses. It is slightly thick, but doesn’t feel goopy. Madeleine provides moisture and has a very comfortable feel on the lips, since it’s not sticky at all. The Butter Glosses have great pigmentation and don’t need to be layered over a lipstick. Madeleine is a great choice for a nude lip if you are not a fan of very pale nudes. I found Madeleine to wear for about three to four hours. XOX ♥
Price: $6.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.17 oz / 5 ml The Maybelline Color Elixir in Nude Illusion is a semi-sheer peachy nude gloss with no shimmer or glitter. The Color Elixirs come in lipstick-like packaging and have a short doe foot applicator. The name for each shade can be found on the bottom of the package. Nude Illusion has a great formula, like the rest of the Color Elixir line. It's a bit on the thick side, but it has a very comfortable, moisturizing feel on the lips. Nude Illusion is pigmented, but due to the light nude color, it doesn't change the color of the lips all that much, it neutralizes the natural lip color a bit and adds a nice gloss. It's a great everyday lip color that works with all eye looks. XOX ♥
Price: $6.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.17 oz / 5 ml The Maybelline Rose Redefined (90) Color Elixir is a medium neutral toned pink. The Color Elixirs come in a clear tube (so you can see the products color) and they have a short doe-foot applicator. Rose Redefined has the same great formula as the rest of the Color Elixir line. The formula is slightly thick, but not to the point of being goopy or gross. It has a moisturizing, comfortable feel on the lips and is not sticky. Rose Redefined is a fairly neutral color that is a bit darker than my natural lip color, making it a great choice for a glossy, everyday lip color. XOX ♥
Price: $6.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.17 oz / 5 ml The Maybelline Color Elixir in Petal Plush is a pale pink gloss with subtle shimmer. The Color Elixirs come in packaging that looks similar to a lipstick and they have a short wand with a doe foot applicator. Petal Plush has a nice formula that feels very comfortable on the lips. The product is a bit thick, but I find that it adds to the moisturizing feel. Although this shade has shimmer, it doesn't have a gritty feel. XOX ♥
Price: $8 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.27 fl oz / 8 ml The Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain in LA Exclusive is a semi-sheer cool toned pink glossy lip stain. The ColorStay Moisture Stains have an interesting formula, and I think the best way to describe them is as a gel gloss. The concept is similar to the L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stains, but I'm happy to find that the Revlon version is nothing like the L'Oreal version. I absolutely hated the L'Oreal version and thought they felt very uncomfortable on the lips. Moving on, it has a flexible shovel-shaped applicator which makes application easy. I don't notice much of a staining effect with this color, but I think it's only because the color is on the lighter side. When the glossiness on the lips fade, the product doesn't leave a gross feel on the lips and the color doesn't feather or bleed. XOX ♥
Price: $6.99 * Buy At: Target * Size: 0.17 oz / 5 ml The Maybelline Color Elixir in Caramel Infused is a darker neutral pink gloss with no shimmer or glitter. The Color Elixirs have a short wand with an angled doe foot applicator. There is a lot of hype surrounding this product, and I have to agree. The product is extremely pigmented (but not quite a liquid lipstick) and is very glossy on the lips. Caramel Infused applied very smooth to the lips and although it's a little on the thick side, it feels very comfortable on the lips. It doesn't really have a distinct scent, to me it smells like a lipstick. I got a few hours of wear from Caramel Infused before it needed to be reapplied. XOX ♥
Price: ? * Buy At: Sephora * Size: 0.5 fl oz / 15 ml The Sephora Glossy Gloss in 04 Maple Syrup is slightly brown tinted gloss with glitter. The gloss comes in a clear, squeezy tube. I believe this gloss can be found in the sale section of Sephora, so not all stores will carry this particular color. I do not know the price of this gloss because this was given to me as a gift. While you can see a slight nude tint to the gloss when swatched on the skin, it looks pretty clear on the lips, just leaving glitter. I was hesitant when I saw the glitter in this gloss, but the glitter does not feel gritty or annoying on the lips. Maple Syrup is slightly tacky on the lips, but feels very comfortable for the most part. The gloss' consistency is a bit thick, but not thick. The gloss also tastes good, not that you should be eating it. XOX ♥
Price: $4.99 * Buy At: Ulta * Size: 0.27 fl oz / 8 ml Now that I have posted reviews of the six new Butter Gloss shades I have purchased, I figured I would swatch them all next to each other. For each color's photos, review and swatches, click the following links: Devil's Food Cake, Raspberry Tart, Sugar Cookie, Cupcake, Angel Food Cake, Fortune Cookie. Devil's Food Cake is a deep plummy red that isn't even close to the other colors. Raspberry Tart is a pinky-purple that is very similar to Sugar Cookie. Raspberry Tart is just a bit darker and more purple. Sugar Cookie is a fuchsia pink. Cupcake is a warm yellow-toned pink. Cupcake is similar to Sugar Cookie, but it is much warmer. Angel Food Cake is a neutral mauve pink. Fortune Cookie is a light peachy nude. None of the glosses have any shimmer or glitter. XOX ♥
